What Does Kumon Want to Achieve?
Kumon is an educational institution present in 45 countries and currently a method used by 4.12 million students worldwide. The thrust of the organization is not only to develop the calculation skills and reading comprehension of these children.
Ultimately, what Kumon around the globe is working towards is World Peace through Education. In the Asia and Oceania region, each country unites all efforts to achieve this by helping Build their Nation through Education. Kumon instructors and associates do not see this as a farfetched dream but rather a goal that can be realized through fostering individuals who have what we call Life Skills.
We define Life Skills as the ability to face complex issues in a calm and composed manner and to take up these challenges courageously and with a solution in mind. An individual that has acquired Life Skills is one who can learn independently and is confident enough to work towards realizing his own dreams and aspirations.
If more and more children are trained daily to develop calculation skills and attack a problem with confidence and resolution; if all of them are capable to obtain, deduce and comprehend useful information, then there would be enough people who are equipped with the Life Skills needed to make this world a better place.
We envision Kumon students as the leaders of tomorrow and the experts in their field come their time. They will be the ones who will usher in a society renewed by skilled individuals who continuously seek for a better way of doing things.
